As of February 1, Daimler AG became Mercedes-Benz Group AG following the successful debut of the Daimler Truck stock market, so the group’s renewed focus on the car business is underlined with a new name, according to JustAuto.

The Mercedes-Benz brand was created in 1926, when the predecessors of Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler merged.

Following the name change, the stock symbol of the car manufacturer has changed from DAI to MBG, and the shares will remain listed on the German DAX stock index.

“Renaming” underscores our renewed strategic focus. In doing so, we want to clarify where we see the core of our company – building the most desirable cars in the world. The Mercedes star has always been a promise for the future: changing the present to improve it. We want to continue this legacy of our founders, taking the lead in electric mobility and vehicle software, ”said President Ola Kaellenius.

Daimler Mobility AG has been renamed Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG, offering buyers of MB cars and vans financing, leasing and insurance, plus rental and subscription products, fleet management and digital charging and payment services.

The “historic achievement” of the carmaker began last year and was approved by an overwhelming majority of shareholders. On December 10, 2021, Daimler Truck Holding was launched as an independent company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, leaving the new Mercedes-Benz Group to focus on car and van brands.

The Mercedes-Benz Group still owns a 35% minority stake in Daimler Truck, of which approximately 5% is held in its pension assets.
