Practically ousted from the US smartphone market, Huawei has reshaped itself, among other things, on electric cars, developed together with car manufacturers.

On Saturday, in Shanghai, the first car using the Harmony OS operating system will be unveiled, from Huawei, a machine called Aito M5, informs news.ro.

Huawei wants to emphasize that it does not intend to compete with car manufacturers, but to cooperate with them. And indeed, the Aito M5 is being developed by Seres, a Silicon Valley-based subsidiary of the Chinese company Sokon.

This is a hybrid, which, in addition to the 40 kWh battery, also uses a 1.5-liter petrol engine, which only works to increase autonomy.

The Harmony OS-based infotainment system features a 15.6-inch touchscreen, followed by a 10.4-inch screen that displays technical parameters.

The Aito M5 is considered a competitor to the Tesla Model Y. Tesla has grown over the past two years, reaching 26% of the revenue generated by this market in China.

The mid-size SUV will be sold in three variants, with 272 hp, 228 hp and 496 hp. It will cost about $ 40,000 in China, which is cheaper than the Tesla Model Y, which costs just under $ 48,000 on the Chinese market.
