Qin Gang: Beijing does not send weapons to Russia or

At present, China’s ambassador to the United States, Qin Gang, has assured that his country will not send “weapons and ammunition” to either Russia or Ukraine, amid rumors of alleged Beijing support for the Russian invasion, EFE reports.

In his opinion, “There is a lot of misinformation about China’s military support for Russia. We deny it. What China is sending is medicine and sleeping bags. We are not sending weapons or ammunition to either side, “the Chinese diplomat said in an interview with CBS on Sunday.

At the same time, the Qin Gang stressed that its country “is against the war” and that it will do “everything necessary to ease this crisis”, although it refused to condemn the invasion, notes EFE, quoted by Agerpres.

In this context, US President Joe Biden warned in a video conference with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Friday about the “consequences” to which China is exposed if it offers “material support” to Russia in its invasion of Ukraine.

In fact, Ambassador Qin Gang described the conversation between the two leaders as “sincere, profound and constructive”, and during which Xi “said very clearly” that Beijing “relies on peace and opposes war.”

Asked why China did not openly condemn the invasion, Qin Gang called the belief that “convictions solve the problem” “naive” and called for “diplomacy.”

However, when asked if China would offer financial support to Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, the Qin Gang simply said that both countries maintained “normal trade, economic, financial and energy cooperation.”

At the same time, the Chinese diplomat said that the “relationship of trust” between Russia and China puts Beijing in a “unique position to be able to mediate” in resolving the conflict. “China is part of the solution, not part of the problem,” he insisted.
