Romania ranks last in the European Union in terms of waste recovery, with only 7% of the collected quantity being recycled.

According to data presented by Eurostat, at the level of the European Union, the amount of recovered waste increased by 40% from 2004 to 2020.

Among the member states, Italy has the highest recycling rate, 83%.

Waste management and disposal can have a major impact on the environment, so the European Union aims to reduce the impact of waste on the environment and health and improve the use of resources.
