Government spokesman Dan Cărbunaru announced that Romania will close its airspace for aircraft belonging to Russian companies, TVR News reports.

“Romania has begun proceedings to suspend the right to land and fly over its territory for aircraft belonging to companies in the Russian Federation”,

said Dan Cărbunaru.

Decisions in this regard have also been taken by Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Latvia and Estonia.

The Polish national company LOT announced the suspension of flights to Moscow and St. Petersburg starting Friday afternoon.

These announcements follow a similar decision, which hit the Russian national company Aeroflot, taken by the United Kingdom on Thursday.
