Apparently, not all Western leaders have turned their backs on Vladimir Putin after the war in Ukraine broke out.

Thus, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, had a telephone conversation on Monday in which they discussed global food security.

At the same time, the Russian president reiterated his intention to strengthen the strategic partnership between Russia and Brazil, according to a press release sent by the Moscow Government, then taken over by the Reuters news agency. During the phone call, Vladimir Putin assured Jair Bolsonaro that Russia will fulfill its obligations and provide fertilizers to Brazil.

In the politico-economic context, on Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2022, the virtual summit of the BRICS economic group, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, took place.

Vladimir Putin calls for “honest cooperation” with South Africa, Brazil, China and India

During the BRICS Summit, it was hosted by China, and the member countries discussed the global economy, but also about the war started in Ukraine, reports the EFE news agency. According to the quoted source, the BRICS Summit was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

In his statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for “honest cooperation” so that the global economic crisis can be overcome. At the same time, he blamed “certain states” for this situation, claiming that they used the wrong financial mechanisms.

In his opinion, “We need honest and mutually beneficial cooperation to find a way out of the crisis of the world economy, generated by the stupid and selfish actions of certain states, which, using financial mechanisms, transfer their mistakes to the whole world. macroeconomic policy “, said the Russian leader, referring to the western countries.

At the same time, he stressed that the world needs the leadership of the BRICS countries to develop policies that can lead to the formation of a “multipolar system of interstate relations”. Vladimir Putin added that the BRICS countries can work “together and efficiently to ensure international stability and security.”

China condemns Western sanctions against Russia

In this context, a reaction in this regard also came from Chinese President Xi Jinping. He described the current situation as “imposing and complex”. In this regard, the Chinese official suggested “coordinating macroeconomic policies” and “building an open global economy” so that “stronger economic growth” can be achieved. At the same time, Xi Jinping noted that “globalization is an irreversible historical trend.”

In fact, South Africa, India and Brazil avoided talking about the war in Ukraine. Instead, the Chinese leader condemned the sanctions imposed by the West against Russia, which, in his opinion, “could have a boomerang effect”.

In his view, “The crisis in Ukraine has sounded the alarm for humanity,” said the Chinese leader. At the same time, Xi Jinping lamented that “some countries” are trying to expand their military alliances and “force others to choose camps,” warning of the specter of the “cold war mentality” in today’s world.
