Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow by 3.5% in 2022, Central Bank Governor Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani told a conference in Doha on Sunday.

Al-Thani quoted international organizations as saying.

The energy-rich Gulf Emirate plans to start licensing financial technology companies soon, he added.

Fitch Ratings estimated in April that Qatar’s GDP will grow by 3.2% in 2022, from 1.6% in 2021, this increase being attributed to the World Cup that the country hosts in November and December, and post-pandemic recovery.
