The Romanian car market registered the second largest

According to the latest report from the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), the Romanian car market recorded the second highest growth in Europe in the first 5 months. In May, sales of new cars in our country increased by 24%, according to Automarket.

A new report by ACEA shows that 10,198 new cars were sold in Romania in May. This means an increase of 24% compared to the same period in 2021. Moreover, sales of new cars in our country increased by 32.9% in the first 5 months compared to the same period last year. So far, 47,645 new cars have been sold in January-May.

This is significant because, according to the report, Romania had the second highest increase in sales in Europe in the first 5 months of 2022. In this respect, the first place is occupied by Iceland, where sales increased by 61% during this period and 6776 new cars were sold.

Bulgaria ranks third in terms of growth, with 17.5% more cars sold than in the same period last year. 11,721 new cars were sold here in January-May. It is followed by Cyprus with an increase of 8.7%, Slovakia with an increase of 5.6% and Ireland is the last country at European level to increase during this period, with an increase of 3.2%.

All other countries, on the other hand, fell.

Germany remains the leader in the total number of cars sold in the first 5 months, with over 1.3 million sales, but a decrease of 9.3%. The UK was the second largest market, with 661,121 cars and a decrease of 8.7%, followed by France (600,893 units, minus 16.9%), Italy (556,974 cars, down 24.3%) and Spain ( 318,487 pieces, a decrease of 11.5%).
