The Russians attacked the city of Vinita with Kalibr cruise missiles

Midnight reaction of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, after the attack on the city of Vinita. The Russians hit this town with cruise missiles, but they hit civilian targets again, and the balance is extremely bloody.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has erupted after Russia’s latest bloody attack.

On Thursday, July 14, missiles fired by Russian soldiers hit the town of Vinita, far behind the front line.

Ukrainian officials have described the attack as a war crime.

Following this attack, the balance is tragic: at least 23 dead, including 3 children. Another 66 people are hospitalized and another 39 are still missing, according to Ukraine’s state emergency service, quoted by Reuters.

The Ukrainians claim that the Kalibr cruise missiles that hit Vinita were launched from a Russian submarine in the Black Sea.

Two other missiles were intercepted by the air defense, according to the Ukrainian Interior Minister.

Attack on Vinita, harshly condemned by President Zelenski: An open act of terrorism

In his opinion, “What is this, if not an open act of terrorism?”, Volodymyr Zelenski said in a message posted on the Telegram.

At an international conference on the prosecution of war crimes in Ukraine, Zelenski also said the attack was on “an ordinary and peaceful city.”

Thus, “cruise missiles hit two community facilities, houses were destroyed, a medical center was destroyed, cars and trams caught fire,” the Kyiv leader added.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry, which denies that it deliberately targeted civilians, did not immediately comment on the attack.

A reaction also came from the UN. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is “terrified” of the missile attack, a UN spokesman said.

“The Secretary-General condemns any attack on civilians or civilian infrastructure and reiterates his call for responsibility for such violations,” the UN representative added.

In Vinita is the headquarters of the Ukrainian Air Force

In Ukraine, Vinita is a city of 370,000 inhabitants, located about 200 km southwest of Kyiv.

In fact, the city is home to the headquarters of the Ukrainian Air Force, according to an official website of the Ukrainian army, a target that Russia tried to reach with cruise missiles in March.

In the context of this war, Russia’s new attack came just one day after progress was made in Russian-Ukrainian talks on unblocking grain exports from Ukraine, and it is a sign that a peace agreement is still a long way off between the two camps. .
